PDA Mobile Phones

PDA Phones or (Personal Digital Assistants) are hand held devices that act as mini computers. For this reason PDAs are also called Pocket computers or Palm Top computers. The PDAs were originally designed as Personal organisers and over the period of time been endowed with many hi-end features.

First PDA, the newer models of this genre are empowered with colour screen and audio capabilities. This enables the PDAs to assume a 3fold personality, such as that of a smartphone web browser and portable media player. Many PDAs are such a make that they can access the internet/ extranet/ intranet through the Wi-Fi or wireless Wide Area Network (WWANs).

Newer PDAs such as iPhone uses a novel technique for inputs such as Multi-Touch, where fingers are used to type. Most of the newer PDAs also have memory card slots in them. In terms of connectivity, the modern PDAs are enabled with Bluetooth wireless connectivity. As one peruses through the mid range PDAs, one will find Wi-Fi as well. Here it should be observed that most universal PDAs will use infrared as the option, as it is economical and all PDAs have it.

Just as a personal computer, it is also possible to customise the PDAs. Which means that you can put in additional softwares in the device. With such power, it is but evident how the PDAs have carved a niche for themselves. As per a survey, the overall market for PDAs grew by 20.7% in the third quarter (Q3) of 2005.
